Welcome to Birds of India, an internet-based and peer-reviewed resource devoted to Indian birds. India has spectacular birds, which have been studied intensively over the past hundred and fifty years. Yet, dedicated and scholarly web resources with detailed species pages on Indian birds have been scarce. A 'read' is counted each time someone views a publication summary (such as the title, abstract, and list of authors), clicks on a figure, or views or downloads the full-text.

Recently I brought this book although I have other field guides for bird identification for the descriptions about the bird species like habitat, nesting etc, which in most other field guides are not covered. Although this book is not covering all the species of birds in India, it covers most common of them with beautiful descriptions/5. Birds of India provides information on Indian birds and on birding in India. Launched as 'Birds of Kolkata' in , it is a birding resource containing images, checklists, trip reports, hotspots & much more. The site is educational and the expectation is to generate awareness and interest in the avian wealth of India to aid conservation.
